The Domino Group operates in over 120 countries through a global network of 25 subsidiary offices and in excess of 200 distributors employing over 2,600 people worldwide with manufacturing facilities situated in UK, China, Germany, India, Sweden and USA. Find out how the Group relies on Alpha’s IT Translation Services for their localisation requirements.
Since early 2011, Alpha has been supporting the Domino Group in providing software and printer manual translation in over 35 languages. Initially brought in as an additional supplier Alpha has worked hard to improve language quality for Domino's products in markets across the globe.
Tatiana Chapman, Translations Executive at Domino takes up the story, 'The main reason at the time to bring in an additional supplier (Alpha) (we already had a long-standing relationship with another supplier) of translation services was to cover two specific growing areas of the business. We were looking for a British-based supplier with established credibility. We already knew of Alpha from previous contacts. The fact that they were based in Cambridge and we were just down the road from them was perfect'.
Why did you choose Alpha?
When asked why they chose Alpha, Tatiana continues, 'We chose Alpha for a variety of reasons including their good industry reputation, location and an unusual ‘set up’ for a translation agency – i.e. impressive offices in Cambridge providing high-quality in-house linguistics, customer management and engineering services!'
In June 2015, Domino became an autonomous division of Brother Industries Limited, a public company listed on the Japanese Stock Exchange (6448:Tokyo) which promises further growth opportunities for Domino products. Looking to the future and how important the service Alpha provides to Domino in developing its product sales in new markets around the world Tatiana was clear. 'Alpha are not just a supplier of translation services, they are our partners. As the Domino business is growing (in terms of marking and coding technologies, sales revenue and market changes as part of the Brother Group of companies), Alpha are very much part of this growth. They have proven to be very flexible and customer-orientated whilst maintaining the high quality services which were initially attractive to us. This is a strong and winning formula for both of our businesses.' Mette Clark, Strategic Accounts Director at Alpha, who works with Domino said 'Our open and transparent partnership with Domino enables us to deliver each project in a timely and cost effective way that provides huge mutual benefit.'
